A strong message is being transmitted to the workplaces (govt. corporate, industrial and others) that harassment has become a cognizable offence. This office and “The Protection Against Harassment of Women at the Workplace Act, 2010,” are working not only as a deterrent against occurrence of such incidents but as a beacon to guide working women irrespective of their grades and stature. They have been provided a platform where they could go if harassed by someone. Moreover, this office and "The Punjab enforcement Women's Property Right Act, 2021" protect and secure the rights of ownership of women in the property. It is expedient to provide for protection of rights of ownership and possession of properties owned by women ensuring that such rights are not violated by means of harassment, coercion, force or fraud.
Office of the Ombudsperson is also striving and making strenuous efforts for establishment of Inquiry Committees at all levels and in all types of offices/ workplaces. Since absence of Inquiry Committee can result into fine, to the tune of Rs. 100,000 therefore, positive response is being received from all concerned. HAVP is a multifaceted awareness programme regarding this Act and office of Ombudsperson. This is a development programme approved by P&D, Punjab, at a total costs of Rs. 68 million.
