Legal Framework

This Act of parliament received the assent of the President on 9th March 2010. The Act was originally in the Federal ambit, however, the subject on which this law was enacted devolved to the province by virtue of 18th amendment in the constitution hence it was adopted with amendments for the province of the Punjab as Punjab Protection Against Harassment of Women at the Workplace (Amendment) Act 2012 (III of 2013). This legislation is a major breakthrough towards making society more civilized & accountable and aims at creating an environment free of abuse, intimidation and harassment for working women.
