Seminar on “Protection of Women against Harassment” in Collaboration with Chamber of Commerce & Industry

A seminar on “Protection of Women against harassment” was organized by HomeNet Pakistan in collaboration with Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) and Provincial Ombudsperson Punjab at the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry on 12th January, 2016.
In her address, Provincial Ombudsperson Punjab Ms. Farkhanda Waseem said that the government is committed to create a safe working environment for women, which is free of harassment, abuse, and intimidation with a view towards fulfillment of their right to work with dignity.
She said that the parliament for the protection against harassment of women at the workplace promulgated a law in March 2010. This law requires all public and private organizations to adopt an internal code of conduct and a complaint and appeals mechanism aimed at establishing a safe working environment for working women, she said. She further added that this law is equally implemented for men and women. 
Punjab Government appointed ombudsperson in 2013. She further added that role of public & private including NGOs/Civil Society Organizations is very important to create awareness among common people community level, In 36 districts of Punjab, we have started “ Harassment Awareness Volunteer Program”, our partner organizations including NGOs/CSOs, young people , media and government representatives are sensitizing people about this law on volunteer basis. Later on Complaint cell will be formed for creating awareness at district level in Punjab. View Gallery
